I am a native Chicagoan, having been born and raised on the South side. I have also lived on the North side and the suburbs, making me familiar with the whole area. I attended public schools and to paraphrase Paul Simon, my years of education haven’t seemed to hurt me none.
I did my undergraduate and graduate work at DePaul University and then worked at Ravenswood Hospital Community Mental Health Center as a staff therapist. Three years later I became the Director of Emergency Services, a position I held for the next 25 years. Currently I work full-time in private practice.
I have worked extensively with individuals, adolescents, couples and families since the early 1970’s. Among the most common problems I treat are depression, anxiety, anger management, poor communication, divorce issues, sexual dysfunction, and gay-lesbian-transgender issues.
My approach to therapy emphasizes helping my clients achieve their goals. I do this by first listening carefully to understand the problem and then working together help my client to make the decisions and changes necessary to resolve the issue. I emphasize my client’s strengths rather than problems and look to the future more than the past.
Finally, I have been married for over 25 years and have 2 adult children and a puppy named Chewie.
